About

rrrather is a single serving site that presents questions starting with “would you rather” and give two choices. The user must choose one of the two possible answers, no matter how horrible the choices may be. Popular would you rather questions include hypothetical situations where both choices represent terrible choices, and where it is up to the voter to decide with choice is the lesser of both evils. Questions on the site range from classic “would you rather” questions, to more generic “this or that” questions, or even plain “yes or no” questions.

History

Would you rather started as a conversation game used as ice-breaker during parties or conversation starters during dates. The game inspired a TV show, a movie, a board game, and a website.

Example of rrrather questions

  • Would you rather go way back in time and meet your ancestors (Pre 1800’s) or go way into the future and meet your great grandchildren (Post 2200)?
  • Would you rather Wake up naked and sore and without any memory of the night before, next to the Burger King telling you “you had it your way” or Wake up naked next to Ronald McDonald telling you that “you were loving it”??
  • Would you play Russian Roulette one time with one bullet for $100,000,000? Yes or No?
  • Would you rather get a dream vacation for two weeks or spend five days with anyone in the world, but you must stay in your hometown?
  • Who/what created the world? God or the Big Bang?
  • Would you rather have no one show up to your wedding or your funeral ?

Spread

rrrather’s most famous question Who/what created the world? was posted on r/atheism, which sparked a shitstorm of a religious debate. The results by country of the question show that the United States has a much higher rate of theism than other developed nations. Votes by gender show that women tend to be more religious, even though religions tend to be misogynistic.

Youtube videos answering questions from rrrather have become a popular youtube tag. Questions from the dirty and gross category have been answered by Shane Dawson in a video with Tyler Oakley.

Recurrence

A comon question asked on reddit AMAs is whether OP would rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck.

Site Engagement

The site has over 65,000 questions, 20,000 members, and over a million comments.
