Little Busters! Opening Parodies (Japanese: リトバスOPパロ) refers to a series of parody videos for the opening movie for Japanese visual novel game Little Busters!^[1] produced by a Japanese adult game studio Key.^[2] That movie has been a popular template for parodies on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND) since the middle of 2008.

Origin

The video game Little Busters! was initially released for Windows in July 2007, and several other editions had been released in later years. Its opening movies are made in a typical style for adult games, just moving stock character illustrations along with a theme song, and those have been published as a trailer in several months before the release dates. Among those movies, the opening movie of Little Busters! EX, the adult edition of the 1st title, is used in the most of online parodies. That movie was published as a trailer on the web in June 2008.

Meanwhile, the substantial increase in popularity of this parody video series was triggered by the hit of a video reproducing the EX version by Billy Herrington and Gachimuchi All-Stars in the MAD video style. This video was posted to NND on August 16th, 2008.

Since that, this opening movie has been a popular template for parodies as well as that of Figu@mate, Nursery Rhyme and Itadaki Jan-Gari-an R in previous. Behind these backgrounds, it contributes to the popularity of the fads that mimicking adult game’s trailer movies by MAD video’s editing style is quite easy.

About 150 of parody videos had been uploaded by followers in its first year, and the amount of them has been still increasing occasionally on NND.^[3] In addition, some of them are reuploaded to YouTube.^[4]
