Ruined Adulthood is a term used to describe a discovery found in a subject that adult fans may find suggestive or disappointing. It is similar to Ruined Childhood, although topics are more recent, such as a television show that is currently airing, rather than a show a person remembers from their childhood.
Origin
On June 15, 2012, Funnyjunk user evanggggg made a post titled “Adulthood Ruined” that featured a theory that adults don’t appreciate the fruity shapes in the breakfast cereal Trix because ‘Trix are for kids’, which also happens to be the cereal’s slogan. The post received over three thousand likes, and has 60,000+ views.
Spread
In April 2013, a 9GAG post titled “My adulthood is ruined” was posted featuring a comic where a person was disappointed to find out Jim Parsons was nothing like his character Sheldon Cooper in the television show The Big Bang Theory. It received 21,000+ points.
A post titled “My adulthood is ruined” was uploaded to Meme Diary by user Laugh M, a demotivational poster of the show Adventure Time, where the main character Finn says ‘Please Princess! Just stick it in your mouth’.
