FamiTracker is a free program for Windows that allows the user to compose music for the Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom videogame system. It is often used to create remixes of popular musical tracks, which are most commonly found on YouTube. It was first available for download in 2005.
Origin
On December 2, 2005, Jonathan Liss published the first build of the Famitracker program.

The trend of making tunes with Famitracker didn’t really take off until May 9, 2008, when this video was uploaded:
Since then, there have been literally thousands of videos displaying songs made in Famitracker, some popular musical tracks, others completely original, all varying in quality.
