Microsoft Internet Explorer, shortened IE, is a web browsing software that is included in all versions of Windows. As a meme, people are exaggerating its slowness and frequent crashes, as well as stating that it is only good for downloading other browsers (and not that either), unless you are a real Internet noob.
Origin
The first version of Internet Explorer was released August 16th, 1995.
Historically, Internet Explorer is one of the most widely used web browsers, as about 95% of all Internet users used it in 2002 and 2003. Its popularity started to decline when other web browsers was launched, such as Safari (2003), Firefox (2004), and Google Chrome (2008).
