I Happen To Be An Expert On This Subject/Topic is an expression used to preface an explanation on a subject or a topic on discussion forums and image boards.
Origin
On September 16th, 2004, a user Marnieworld posted a reply to a comment on Democratic Underground forums[1] titled “Well I happen to be an expert in the subject”. The earliest known use of the phrase in image macros was on December 21st, 2008[2], in Canon Digital Photography forums when an image of Bill Nye with the caption (picture below) was linked in a comment.
Spread
On June 6th, 2010, NovaJinx posted a blog entry[3] about the idea of Aniblog MarathonOn, which had an image macro derivative of Cirno from Touhou Project. On August 24, 2010, the image macro was uploaded on penpen’s microblog[4].
Many other derivatives featuring characters from a variety of franchises like Fate/Stay Night, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Katawa Shoujo have been circulating various sites, like 4chan, Funnyjunk, and more.
