About

Homer Simpson’s Bush Disappearance is a series of reaction images that are used in a series of four panels. It’s often used to mock people who often change bandwagons in sports.

Origin

The image is a screenshot from the The Simpsons season 5 episode, Homer Loves Flanders. In the scene, Homer is asking his neighbor Ned Flanders and his children, Rod and Todd if they wanted to hang out with him. When the Flanders refused Homer’s offer, Homer replied by saying, “Oh, oh ok.” before disappearing into the bushes.

Spread

The image’s use first occurred during the 2013 NBA and NFL Seasons in which fans of teams that often performed poorly would switch sides for the team that could have a playoff run. It was also used for fans who would often change sports because of one of their team’s poor performance in a season. Numerous sport meme sites such as MLB Memes, NFL Memes, and NBA Memes often used the image macro during the respective sport’s postseason.
