Slug Maze is a pathway made out of table salt for slugs to navigate without touching the sides. If a slug touches salt, it is often killed as water leaves its body due to the process of osmosis.
Origin
On August 27th, 2005, YTMND user mydogyoshi created a page titled “Slug in a Salt Maze”, which featured a photograph of a slug navigating a maze made out of table salt (shown below).
Spread
On June 13th, 2012, Redditor Nabillia submitted a screenshot of a Facebook post featuring a dead slug who failed to traverse a slug maze to the /r/funny[1] subreddit (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gained over 1,700 votes (93% upvoted).
