Mpreg, a portmanteau of “male” and “pregnant,” is a genre of fanfiction and fan art featuring men who have become pregnant.
Origin
Male pregnancy has been used as a theme in various works of fiction, including the 1978 comedy film Rabbit Test, the BBC science fiction sitcom Red Dwarf and the 1994 comedy film Junior (shown below).
On October 29th, 2003, Urban Dictionary[4] user Boochies submitted an entry for “mpreg,” defining it as a “story where a man becomes pregnant.”

On May 9th, 2008, an article for about the hoax site malepregnancy.com was made on the website Snopes.[5] On October 11th, 2010, YouTuber Mpregdude82[1] launched a channel featuring videos of himself feigning pregnancy (shown below).
On February 3rd, 2013, The Mpreg Fairy Tumblr[3] blog was launched, which highlights mpreg fanfiction and fanart. On May 1st, a “Mister Seahorse” article was created on TV Tropes.[6] On August 6th, 2014, the “Lyric’s Pregnant Men” Tumblr blog was created, featuring photographs of men digitally altered to appear as if they are impregnated (shown below).
On October 9th, BuzzFeed[2] published an article about online mpreg communities. As of November 2014, there are over 11,900 search results for the keyword “mpreg” on Fanfiction.net.[7]
