On January 1st, 2015, Twitter user Sam Garrison[5] posted a photograph of Oakman standing on a football field accompanied by a caption joking that he ate “3 human beings and a honeybun” for breakfast (shown below). In the first week, the tweets gained over 8,400 favorites and 7,500 retweets.
Spread
That day, Twitter user Jordan Ewings[6] posted the same photo with a mock dialogue in which Oakman intimidates a Chipotle employee, garnering more than 6,800 favorites and 5,600 favorites that week (shown below, left). On January 2nd, Twitter user Austin Gronau[7] tweeted the Oakman photo with a parody conversation between the football player and Liam Neeson in the 2008 thriller film Taken (shown below, right).
In the coming days, several news sites highlighted notable examples of the Twitter meme, including Bleacher Report,[1] Jobs & Hire,[2] Daily Snark[3] and BuzzFeed.[4]
