Only One refers to a song by American rapper Kanye West featuring Beatles singer Paul McCartney which received criticism from both Beatles fans and Kanye West fans. Alongside, various tweets made by fans of West confused by the identity of McCartney managed to gain notable spread.

Origin

In late August 2014, Kanye West announced that he would join with the former member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, in the future to create an album. This announcement was met with criticism and was seen as a controversial decision on many social media sites.



On January 1st, 2015, the song “No One”, a Ballard sung by Paul McCartney and Kanye West was released over iTunes and announced via Kanye West’s twitter page.




Controversy

After the announcement of Kanye West and Paul McCartney joining together to make an album, fans of The Beatles criticized this decision which resulted in a negative backlash amonst Beatles fans. Following the release of the song, Kanye West fans proceeded to respond to the criticism with multiple tweets questioning Paul McCartney´s fame and claiming Kanye West will make him famous, which multiple articles have displayed.[1][3][4] The Tweets also managed to gather negative responses from angry fans of The Beatles.[5]
