Origin
After 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce, which was finalized in June 2013 with an undisclosed settlement. The same month, Kardashian gave birth to a daughter, North West,[4] from her relationship with rapper Kanye West, which began in April 2012. Kardashian and West were married in May 2014.
Spread
Following the birth, various threads were created on the internet. In August a image was posted by redditor dankblaze to the r/AdviceAnimals sub-Reddit, which managed to gather over 5 upvotes in the following month.[1] A week later a similar image was posted on 9gag by user weed0nat0r, which managed to receive 8 upvotes and 3 replies (shown below).[2] In the year following North West’s birth, there were at least a dozen wind direction puns uploaded to the Cheezburger Network.[3]
