About

There’s no f**king seat for you! (Japanese: おめーの席ねぇから!, Omee no Seki Neekara!) is the most impressive remark in 2007 live-action TV drama series for Life (ライフ), a Japanese manga of bullying in a high school which was written by Keiko Suenobu.[1] It has been lionized among MAD video editors in Nico Nico Douga (NND) due to its cheap rendition and the actress’s too-powerful yell.

Origin

This TV drama was aired from July 2007 to September 2007, and its thoughtless depictions of insidious bullying got much negative reputations. A Japanese wikipedia article for this manga describes that the TV station caught more than 2000 complaints from viewers during the program.[2] Because of this, in contrast to usual Japanese dramas which are frequently re-aired in weekday afternoons, this TV drama has never been re-aired in terrestrial channels.

Meanwhile, the remark “There’s no f**king seat for you!” was appeared 2 times in the drama. One was given from Manami Anzai, the antagonist and the leader of a bullying group, to Ayumu Shiiba, the protagonist of this drama, after she threw Ayumu’s seat and textbooks from a terrace to the ground. This was an opening bell for bullying in the end of the 1st episode.

The other, the source scene of this fad, was in the end of the final episode that was aired on September 15th, 2007. Manami got it from Midori Iwamoto, a quite minor character, by much more dirty manlike yell.

This was the original ending of TV drama series, which was totally opposed to that of original manga series that Manami made peace with Ayumu and chose the path of atonement.

Spread

Its stereotyped plot, the bully went to be bullied on herself, gave awfully poor impression to viewers. Besides, the too powerful yell by Midori Iwamoto in that scene was completely unexpected to them because she had never took any important part throughout the story. Because of these, this ending scene looked very epic and ridiculous for many Japanese people.

It immediately started to be parodied on the Japanese hub sites as usual. 2channel users gave a Shift-JIS art to her, and NND users set it to a subject for MADs.[3]

Among those hundreds of MAD videos, this Kirby Sky High style video below is the most succeeded video that led subsequent increase in popularity to this series. It was uploaded on October 9th, 2008, and have been watched over 2 million times in total.[4]
