Asking Strangers for Sex is series of prank videos in which people approach random pedestrians in public to proposition them for sex.
Origin
In the skater prank video CKY2K by Bam Margera and Brandon DiCamillo, originally released on May 22nd, 2000, a woman asks strangers on the street if they would like to “go behind a building a fuck” (shown below).
Spread
On July 16th, 2008, YouTuber HOYpinoyNINJA uploaded a video titled “What happens if you ask a random person to do you?”, in which he asks random men and women if they will sleep with him (shown below, left). On September 20th, 2010, YouTuber OGFurious uploaded a satirical pickup artist instructional video, in which a man tells a woman he is “I’m going to fuck your butt cheeks” (shown below, right).
On June 3rd, 2013, the SuperWingmen YouTube channel uploaded a video titled “Asking Strangers to Have Sex,” featuring a man propositioning strangers in public (shown below). Over the next two years, the video gathered more than 10 million views and 3,500 comments.
On July 29th, the Whatever YouTube channel uploaded a video titled “Asking Guys For Sex (Social Experiment),” in which YouTuber Andrea Wendel asks random men if they will have sex with her (shown below, left). Within two years, the video gained over 25 million views and 23,000 comments. That day, Redditor Superlative_ submitted the video to the /r/videos[1] subreddit, where it gathered upwards of 1,900 votes (77% upvoted) and 3,600 comments prior to being archived. Also on July 29th, the Whatever channel posted another prank video in which a man asks 100 women for sex (shown below, right). Over two years, the video reached upwards of 16 million views and 24,000 comments.
On August 1st, 2014, the Whatever channel uploaded a follow-up video titled “Asking 200 Girls For Sex,” in which a man asks 200 random women if they will sleep with him (shown below, left). On December 1st, the SoFloComedy YouTube channel uploaded a prank video in which a man asks strangers on a beach if they want a “Sex on the Beach” cocktail (shown below, right).
On March 4th, 2015, YouTuber YesCreedYes uploaded a prank video of a woman asking strangers in public if she can perform fellatio on them (shown below, left). On April 20th, the Whatever channel posted another follow-up video in which Wendel approaches 100 single men and propositions them for sex, gaining over 1.5 million views and 4,600 comments in the first 72 hours (shown below, right).
